Medicine for the heart
Heartful support at life’s tender thresholds of living, leaving, and legacy
The Health Doula Society provides companioning services through heart-centered comfort care, confidential conversation, reflective support, and optional comfort anointing.
“Where presence becomes medicine. Where each moment becomes meaningful.”
Companioning vs companion
Doula means woman who serves. Most common are birth doulas and death doulas, each supporting at a book end of life. Health Doulas serve at the threshold between no longer and not yet. As a State of Ohio licensed home health agency, we bridge the gap in the delivery of health care, tending the hearts of those navigating tender moments that often go unseen or unspoken. Our offerings complement clinical care needs, for heart ease during life's most tender thresholds & transitions; inviting a reimagining of care, one that honors not only what can be measured, but what is deeply felt. When most hear “companion care”, they think activity/doing. Yet our focus is meaning/being, helping others feel seen, heard, witnessed, and reconnected to themselves and a sense of community:
What is on your heart?
What are you carrying?
What are you grieving?
What chapter are you in?
What is changing?
What still longs to be spoken?
What still longs to be honored?
Companioning in presence, meaning, values, identity, hope, suffering, connection. You do not have to navigate life's tender thresholds alone:
Life transitions
The ache of being unseen
Unspoken grief
Heartache/heartbreak
Caregiver overwhelm
Identity shifts/changing roles
Family strain
Silent suffering
Moral weariness
Spiritual questions
Aging & increasing needs
End-of-life transitions
Lingering regrets

It is simply allowing presence to move through at the hands and/or feet.
